Plumage & Features
The Yellow-crested Cockatoo has snowy-white plumage with a spectacular retractable yellow (sometimes orange-tinged) crest. It has bluish-white bare eye skin, a black beak, and grey feet. The crest is raised when excited or alarmed, creating a dramatic display.
Juveniles are similar to adults but have duller crests. This species is very vocal, intelligent, and can become a loud screamer if not properly enriched. It requires experienced handling due to its strong beak and emotional sensitivity.
