Healthcare

Food

Healthcare, maintenance and food are very important in order to keep birds content and healthy.
Most birds receive a mix of 60% Harrison’s foods and 40% natural mix of nuts, seeds, veggies and fruits.

Make sure to read-up on your species of bird; some are not allowed too many fatty extra items.

Know Your Bird

You should know everything about your bird; its stool color after certain foods, its absorption rate of water on feathers, color of its beak, wear/tear on its nails, moods…. these are all factors which can tell you if your bird is happy, sad or sick. Most of these things you will spot or learn over time; these are the notification indexes of your bird.

Veterinarian

Yearly checkups at the veterinarian are mandatory; this includes de-worming and other necessary actions. Best thing is to find a vet with avian experience; that also still visits regular seminars. The best thing is if the clinic also supports and has experience with onsite blood scanning equipment like Vetscan VS2 Avian/Reptilian Diagnostics.
