BLUE-CHEEKED AMAZON • RARE NORTHERN SOUTH AMERICAN BEAUTY

Plumage & Features

The Blue-cheeked Amazon is predominantly bright green with distinctive bright blue patches on the cheeks and a yellow crown. It has a red wing speculum and a black-tipped tail with yellow-green edges. The bill is horn-coloured with a dark tip.

Juveniles are similar to adults but have duller blue on the cheeks and less yellow on the crown. This species is known for being relatively quiet compared to larger Amazons and is an excellent talker when well socialised.
