Quarantine Testing

All birds are tested when they come into the environment and kept for a 2 month period in a quarantine cage for a post-test.
Primary tests: PBFD, PDD, Polyoma and Chlamydia. Avian blood is also tested for organ functions and its previous quality of life.

Quarantine Cage(s)

All birds are hosted for a period of 2 months in specific quarantine cages. These cages are fully closed off (front contains a Plexiglas) and “small particle” HEPA filters on the top.

Cage size is about 100x80x150 cm (lxbxh), with a rolling stand underneath. Plexiglas can be easily removed, you still have to watch out for flying debris and requires post-sanitation. The metal inside is also removable, which provides full cleaning access once the birds are removed.

Even when birds are housed in it; they are regularly cleaned with steam and F10 cleaning agents and steam cleaning. All cages go on a post clean-up cycle with F10, Bleach and steamer to make sure no cross contamination can happen.

Macaw and Parrot Housing

Amazons are housed in 50m3 cages containing various large trees and vegetation. Their breeding boxes are carefully located in isolated spots behind the foliage.

Macaw Housing

We currently host macaws inside large greenouses; cages vary between the 100 and 150m3.
Their cages contain automatic sprinklers, fountains and room to play/fly.
A professional greenhouse provide ideal all-year round stable temperatures and allow the birds easy access to vegetables and other foods locally grown.
